THE OPEN CAGE: A Radio Drama Series highlighting the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 as an instrument to address sexual and gender-based violence
The Open Cage is the Uganda portion of the Women Talk Peace series and is produced in Uganda. The radio drama series stems a five-day storyboarding and scripting workshop where women’s organizations and community radio broadcasters worked with IWTC to conceptualize the issues and outline scripts that best reflected their realities. In addition to the storyboards and scripts, the participants worked together in developing the promotion and distribution strategies for the radio drama series. After integrating the villagers’ feedback into the scripts, they were produced into a radio drama series in English, Luo and Luganda. The radio productionshighlight the use of Resolution 1325 as a legal instrument in addressing sexual and gender-based violence and other issues confronting women in conflict areas such as northern Uganda.
